Here is what we are doing this week in American History. Additionally, the learning standards that we are using for this unit are at the bottom of page.
Monday: Finish Ch. 7 Section 3. On Nearpod. Today we will finish looking at civil service reform leading in to the McKinley presidency. Quiz tomorrow over this section.
Tuesday: Quiz today. Begin new unit (Chapter 8 in textbook), "Life at the Turn of the Century". Start with "where we've been activity". Look back at what we've covered so far in the class. We will use this as a springboard to move forward. We will be looking at pictures of technology during the urbanization period. Students will name the technology and why it was needed. This will lead to a discussion on advancements of the period.
Wednesday: Continue on yesterday's technology discussion. Continue to show pictures of technology. Students will provide what it is and why it was needed. This will continue through the end of class.
Thursday: Finish Smartboard picture discussion. We will then go back to each picture. Students will write down each technology and then describe/explain why the technology was needed or useful. This will be done on own to summarize what we've talked about the last two days.
Friday: Begin talking about segregation. What is segregation? Segregation example in class: "boys vs girls". Discussion on whether segregation is OK.
