Monday: Expert groups of 3. Each group will send a representative to one of three expert groups on the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. These 3 expert groups will rewrite their amendment in to common language of today, making the amendment easier to understand.
Next, the experts will go back to their original group and share their expert information.
Students will use this new information to complete the "document based questions" handout provided. It will be due on Wednesday.
Tuesday: Begin class with discussion on 13, 14,15 amendments. Have students discuss/provide information from Monday. Lead in to Jim Crow laws. Discussion/notes over what Jim Crow laws were and why they were there. Also, discuss voter restrictions during this era.
Wednesday: Document based questions from Monday are due. Provide background information on the U.S. Supreme Court. Who they are and what is there job. Use this to go in to Plessey V. Ferguson.
-Class discussion: I will provide background information. Classes will discuss significance of the case as well as its importance.

Thursday: Time line handout due. Finish discussion on segregation today. Remainder of class students will discuss mass culture of this time frame. What is it and why was it available?
