Here is what we learn throughout the year
In American History we begin with the last ice age and people moving across the Bering land bridge into the Americas. We will look at how these people adapted to the land and made a home for themselves in diverse geographical regions. From there we will look at European exploration and colonization of the Americas. We will next look at the thirteen colonies established by Britain and how those colonies grew and eventually fought for their independence from British rule. After the Revolutionary War we will explore how the U.S. developed a great nation with a living constitution and continued to grow. We will finish the year by looking at the turmoil of the mid-1800's spurred by the election of Abraham Lincoln, which ultimately led to the Civil War. We will finish up with the period after the Civil War known as reconstruction.
