Here is what we will be doing this week.
Monday: Discussion over the United States' entry in to WW I. What did we have to do once war was declared by the U.S.? We will also highlight new weapons of WW I.
-reading: airplanes of WW I
Tuesday: Quiz over WW I (chapter 11 section 1). Discussion over U.S. contributions to the war effort. Discussion of role U.S. soldiers played in the war. We will also look at Alvin York in depth, including a reading, "Sgt. York, Hillbilly Hero."
Wednesday: Discussion on how the U.S. will pay for their part in the war. We will also look at war posters of the era.
Thursday: Read "Over the Top" to each class. Students will take notes over the reading to complete an assignment after the reading. The assignment will be due tomorrow. Students will write a letter home from the point of view of a WW I soldier who is preparing to go "over the top."
Friday: Students will have in class today to complete the assignment from yesterday.
